These things are perfect! I have one setup next to water heater, my well pump house, and at the lower level where we would be alarmed if water got high enough to worry about needing to move vehicles or anything else under the house. (We live next to a creek that can turn into a river) I have tested them a few times randomly and they function well. I assume that once the contacts meet a specified resistance level or maybe a dead short it wakes the device up and connects to Wi-Fi and then sends the message. I have some super cheap batteries (Harbor freights lowest line) in them to see how they hold and to see how accurate the battery level is reported. Still showing 100% and I have triggered them maybe 10 or so times.
